Soprano Angel Blue makes her long-awaited Met debut as an Ethiopian princess torn between love and country, one of the opera’s defining roles. Music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin takes the stage for Michael Mayer’s spectacular new production, which transports audiences to the towering pyramids and gilded tombs of ancient Egypt with intricate projections and dazzling animation. Mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi, making her debut in Verdi’s La Forza del Destino in 2024, is Aida’s Egyptian rival Amneris, and tenor Piotr Beczała is the soldier Radamès—the climax of the opera’s greatest love triangle. . The star-studded cast also includes baritone Quinn Kelsey as Amonasro and bass Dmitry Belosselskiy as Ramfis.
