A father and son working as security guards for an armored truck company encounter a group of would-be robbers on a bridge. They are trapped and must devise a plan to escape and survive. The only other time Sly played an antagonist was in Robert Rodriguez’s Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over in 2003.
Armored money transports rely heavily on GPS tracking systems to enhance their security. If something goes wrong – be it an accident, an attack, or an unexpected stop – GPS data helps emergency services understand the situation and quickly reach the vehicle. The 90s brought a bit more of the same success.
The Expendables was a lot of fun, at least the first two and maybe the one with Jason Statham. I don’t know about the third one, but I think some people liked it. This time we’re supposed to believe that some 77-78 year old geriatric vigilante, whose birth year Stallone apparently changed, is a one-man army against bad guys who want to transport an armored car.
It’s some of the weakest action sequences I’ve ever seen in a movie. Stallone doesn’t know it yet, but his best days are behind him and it’s time to move on. I don’t think I’ve seen an action movie this stupid since the Escape Plan sequel.
I’ll admit I liked the first one, but wow, the day is over.
