Two criminal twin brothers, one trying to reform, embark on a dangerous heist spree. Facing legal troubles, gunfights, and family drama, they must reconcile their differences before their mission leads to their self-destruction. Last film appearance of actor M. Emmet Walsh (Judge Farful). Brothers had promise and potential.
Started off strong. The plot was interesting enough. I’m not sure whether to compare the films to generational classics or the rest of the garbage available for streaming in recent years. I feel like Hollywood never recovered from the writers’ strike and it shows. This film is watchable given the low level of content available.
Are comedies now catering to the stupor of the low IQ majority of society? If you like lowbrow humor, like watching a grown man get masturbated by an orangutan, then you’ll enjoy this film. If you prefer witty, sophisticated humor, you’ll roll your eyes a lot. I don’t blame the actors. Dinklage is a true talent.
Brolin shows range by playing a believable character who isn’t a tough guy with superpowers. Marisa Tomei is great in everything. I wonder why she wasn’t credited. Fraser even pulled off the dodgy guard. I’ve never been a Glenn Close fan, but her heyday was before my era.
It’s slow and lacks any sort of cinematic magic that makes you care about the outcome. I’m sure the actors were desperate for a paycheck, but they’re all better than that. It had its moments, and I managed to watch it all the way through, which is saying something, I guess. Your guide to all the new movies and shows streaming on Prime Video in the US this month.
